Jean has got to be one of the worst characters in any RPG ever. He has a weak attack, poor magic and is soooooooooo slooooooow. Surely it would be crazy to use him if it were not necessary? See the heading at the top of this page? It says "Crazy Stuff". Simply, from the point he joins your party, use Jean at all times. When bonded with shamans, Jean becomes quite a reasonable character, so do not do this at any point.
